Bag Staples

Things I bring pretty much every day.

Blackberry Bold- had this baby for more than four years. Almost time for an upgrade!

Bath & Body works hand sanitizer in Island nectar - just because I take the public transportation everyday.

School of Hard Rocks

Recently been spending a little more money on nail polish. I use to spend no more than $20 on a bottle from various beauty stores but of course, the more you spend, the better the quality. I've really been loving Essie, mainly because of their color selections and it's pigmentation. It goes onto the nail so smoothly and it doesn't chip as easily.

school of hard rocks is definitely a Fall color but I think it would look good during the summer against tan skin. It's sort of a deep seaweed color. Reminds me of the filthy sea water in Hong Kong which I like. For base coat I used an Essie protein coat that's suppose to harden and protect your nails from yellow stain, followed by two coats of school of hard rocks and finally, a multi fast solution top coat from Kiss that dries my nails completely in about 3 minutes.

an afternoon

I'm usually free every Monday afternoons, but I'm also usually quite tired once class is over at 1. But last Monday, I felt energetic and wanted to run some errands and get things done earlier so I can spare some time later this week. I had a list of things that I needed to pick up, so i headed over to HMV where I spent quite some time listening to the various buddha bar albums on their CD players. The headphones they provided were great. Totally eliminates the outside noise. Bought a pair of Urbanears headphones for D's birthday (which I'm going to mail to him tomorrow, along with other edible goodies) I was debating on teal and indigo but i settled with indigo for him because i wanted teal myself, ha. There were also a shelf full of fictional novels that were no more than $50HKD! After finishing up my first novel of the year, Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert couple months back, i felt like I needed to read some more books to improve on my English and maybe learn some new vocabs, so i picked up Blink by Malcom Gladwell. So far so good. Definitely something new to me because I always enjoyed the girly typed novels like The Devil Wears Prada or basically anything by Laura Weisberger. Its still entertaining to me but I figured I should read something more abstract.

After that i went to the bank and deposited my check! Headed over to Franc franc afterwards because i needed a new mug for my vanity. That didn't take me much time to pick out because I already knew I wanted that one. Was just walking aimlessly and ended up purchasing a cute little tuxedo style cardigan. Definitely can't wait til fall now.

First Restaurant Review: Fru:yo

Frozen Yogurt was first introduced to me when I went to LA 3-4 years ago. When I first moved into my studio, there was a newly opened yogurt joint literally 10 steps across from my building so being the curious foodie that i am, i checked it out. I remember not really liking it because i got the wrong flavor. I mean, vanilla isn't what a normal person call "wrong" but it definitely didn't wow me. I thought it was basically for the health conscious people that craved ice cream but couldn't spare the extra calories. Until i was introduced to the original flavor. In my opinion, the best flavor for frozen yogurt is hands down, the original tart flavor. Everything else is just bleh to me. Whether it's chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter or cake batter, I'd rather give in to ice cream if i craved something that indulgent. However, coconut and green tea is a different story.

I've been wanting to go to this particular spot: Fru:yo for a while now but it's pretty much at the outskirts of Causeway Bay, borderline Tin Hau and I never would walk that far for anything. There isn't much around the area except for schools, the central library and a hotel. What i don't like about this place was that it's like Crumbs. I'm not exactly a fan of picking certain number of toppings. I like having all kinds of texture thrown in there, crunchy, chewy, soft etc. I settled with the "Fit" size with two toppings that cost $33. There was a lot of yogurt so she definitely did not skimp on that. Maybe a bit too much because I was sick of it half way through. It was a bit too creamy for my liking, kind of like yogurt flavored ice cream, if you know what I mean. but the sweetness was just right. It can be a little bit more tart because I prefer my froyo to be more sour.  I had two of my usual topping : mochi and almond slices. My usual definitely consists of more than that. The shop itself was really cute. Kudos to the wooden chairs and tables. Its pretty different from all the yogurt joints because most of them are in bright and loud colors like pink or green or both at the same time so having this neutral vibe was nice. I'd come here again.

My Dream Vacay

Ranked #16 - Bora Bora

I've got my fair share of white sand, blue water beach vacation in my life. Phuket, Bali, Okinawa, and Boracay were all breath-taking. But one of my ultimate dream destination is Bora Bora, French Polynesia. I've always wanted to experience living right above the water on a bungalow built on stilts. Dive and snorkel just a few steps away from my room, and do whatever the hell I want in those cottages because that's how private they are. A trip there is definitely not cheap, but heck is a girl allowed to dream big?
